and conversation between susie and jean paul gaultier. i feel very fortunate at the fine arts museum because in fact susie mencus' son lives in the bay area and she comes frequently to visit the family. it is always my favorite time of in the exhibition, when she comes and i get to walk through the exhibition with her. it is so learnful. i wanted to share that opportunity with the rest of the bay area. one of my favorites, during the laurent exhibition, one of my favorite moments is one suzy stopped in her tracks. she said, this is it, this is what is true of any great artist or any great designer. when they do something, it can be shocking and avant-garde, but years later, we stand and look at it and believe it has always existed. i think that this is true of jean paul gaultier's work. i know that have been friends for a very long time. it is my honor to introduce both suzy menkes, fashion editor of the international herald tribune, and mr. jean paul gaultier. atlanta and the world lost a great editor this week in jean patterson who passed away in st. pete, jean had been the editor of the atlanta constitution when jack nelson was here and she once told the story about jack being a reporter and a celebrated reporter when gene got a call from the publisher of the los angeles times, otis chandler and mr. chandler said i am thinking the los angeles times wants to set up shop in atlanta. you have a big story brewing in the south, civil-rights story and the emerging south and i need a reporter to staff that bureau for the los angeles times. you got any good reporter? and jean says mr. chairman, we have tons of great reporters and started listing all these great reporters and purposely left off the name of jack nelson. wasn't about to give him props and a week later chandler hired jack nelson. that is how jack got to the los angeles times, great work in atlanta, brought investigative reporting to the civil-rights story which was elevated through an all new level. most of washington, the washington bureau, and the l.a. times did not have a great impr

't know about you. i know for myself, i own a ton of jeans. the average american woman owns seven pair of jeans and 31% of women say they refuse to go a size up for jeans that they don't wear them, they won't fit, you know what i mean? they really just want a pair of great jeans. so what stores will do is they'll stock the denim wall with so many jeans, they'll put it right next to the fitting room because they figure the more you try, the more you will buy. >> thy thank that if a woman finds a pair of jeans that fits great, they'll buy two? >> that's right. they will buy two and three and buy them in different colors. that's what we're seeing especially spring 2013, very trendy colors an patterns. if you find the right style, you will snap up a bunch of them and you will bring them all into the fitting room and try them on. here's another trick stores use. they put the fitting room right next to voila, the cash wrap. the reason it is so close to the fitting room is it doesn't give you any time to put anything back, once you tried it on, you've fallen in love with it, you won't go to t

determined who she is. the girl's body found naked in the parking lot. nbc bay area's jean elle joins us with details. jean? >> reporter: jessica, city and fair field police are now both working this case. that young girl was found here in allen park. her body was found around 6:45 this evening. but the girl was found with no clothes on. authorities were able to identify her after an autopsy. they're not saying how she died but say there are no obvious signs of trauma. her death is being investigated as a homicide. police say her guardian called yesterday to report her missing. the teenager got on the bus and went to school yesterday but didn't come home. police spent hours looking for her. >> she had last been seen in the morning getting on the bus to go to school and normally she would return about 4:20. she didn't. that's when they became concerned. they notified us again at 5:44 and we began an investigation to see if we could locate her. we worked on it up until about midnight when we just ran out of leads. >> reporter: police learned this morning their missing girl was found dead i

in one of jean paul's collections. she is a terrific woman and quite rotund in size. i have not quite caught up with her yet, but i certainly am no little stick. i personally thinks one of the things he should be admired for is not to bring the tyranny of fashion to women. he has, as he has explained, done a lot for diversity in terms of skintight but also diversity of styles and shapes, and i think that was the reason for a round of applause.
